Brief description of CCA

The Media & Communication Club (MCC) aims to nurture effective communicators who are confident users of the English Language. It is divided into 3 sub-wings of debates, emceeing and service. In partnership with Toastmasters International, the junior wing of the MCC Gavel Club, conducts regular chapter meetings and training sessions to enhance communication skills among all its members. To stretch the communication abilities of our members, the club helm school events as emcees and participates in debate competitions on a national level. The club also engages in a service component to the school by manning the school library and its facilities.

CCA Training and Highlights

Every training session begins with the service component of shelving books and other administrative duties. Preparations for weekly tasks such as training for the delivery of advocacy speeches, presentations for word-of-the-week, debates sparring and emcee skill developments are also carried out. During Gavel Club Chapter Meetings on Fridays, members engage in table topics presentations and delivery of prepared speeches according to the Toastmasters Competent Communicator & Leadership manual.

Expectation of CCA

We expect 100% commitment from all members in terms of attending CCA sessions and dedication in completing their assigned duties. All Sec 1 MCC members should be adequately skilled in taking on the role of an emcee for school-based celebrations and events such as CCA Carnival. We select students who demonstrate an aptitude for communication skills and students who have the willingness and drive to learn. All members of the MCC are expected to possess the dedication to contribute fully and be proactive in carrying out their assigned duties.
